Farmhouse Chair Facelift

One of my new addictions is the community garage sale and furniture selling pages on Facebook. If you haven't joined one, you NEED to! You can find some really great stuff. It's also a great place to sell items of your own!

It was my local Facebook selling page where I found the chairs for my Farmhouse Facelift! I got a total of 8 chairs and 2 tables for $80.

What You'll Need

- Paint of your choice

- Stain of your choice

- Varnish of your choice

Tools You'll Need

- Sander

- Sanding block

- Tape

-Paint brush

Step 1: Sanding

Using your electric sander remove all existing paint or finishes from your chair seat. Once you have finished sanding the seat use your sanding block and rough up the chair frame. This will allow your paint to adhere better.

When all sanding is completed, clean chair thoroughly. Make sure all dust from sanding is removed and chair is clean.

Step 2: Painting

Before painting the chair frame make sure to tape off the seat to avoid getting paint on it. If you do get paint on the seat make sure to sand it off. Apply as many coats of paint to achieve your desired look. I applied two coats of paint to my chairs.

Step 3: Staining

Once your paint has had time to dry remove the tape from the seat. You'll want to re-tape the seat but his time to avoid getting stain on the frame. taking the stain of your choice and a staining sponge apply your stain. Apply generously until you are happy with the look.

Once the stain is dry, remove the tape. Follow the directions on the varnish bottle to apply the finishing coat!
